About the project

Neurolina is a therapeutic application supporting children aged 3–10 with speech therapy and other developmental challenges.

The app is built around an activity-based, rhythmic sensory-music training approach combined with elements of developmental psychology. Its goal is to translate proven therapeutic methods into a digital therapeutics app prototype that can effectively support:

  • therapists in their daily practice,

  • parents working with children at home,

  • children engaging independently in structured exercises.

The solution needed to be engaging, intuitive, and development-focused, while fully preserving the therapeutic value of the original methodology.

At the time of collaboration, the project was run under the Central Accelerator of Innovation “Mazovian StartUPolis” grant (Polish: Platforma Startowa – Centralny Akcelerator Innowacji „Mazovian StartUPolis”), with plans to approach investors in the next phase.

What did our client need?

Turning a therapy concept into a scalable product

The challenge was not interface design, but defining a digital therapeutics app prototype that could support structured therapy workflows while ensuring:

  • reduced workload for therapists and parents,

  • increased engagement and independence on the child’s side,

  • structured and repeatable management of therapy exercises.

Early on, it became clear that the key risk lay in the complexity of managing therapy content, not in UX. Left unaddressed, this would lead to high development costs, poor scalability, and operational inefficiency.

Introducing machine learning at this stage would have increased cost and complexity without delivering proportional value.

We addressed this by introducing a simplified, rule-based approach to managing exercises, enabling a more cost-effective and scalable foundation, and a realistic path to MVP without unnecessary technical overhead.

How did we approach it?

Product workshop

We began with a product workshop to align stakeholders around a shared vision and translate the therapy concept into a structured product direction. This stage focused on defining core user flows and identifying key risks early, particularly around content complexity and scalability.

High-level wireframes

Based on the workshop outcomes, we translated therapeutic assumptions into structured user journeys and simplified interaction models. This allowed us to establish an initial product logic aligned with real-world usage, rather than abstract feature ideas.

Clickable prototype

We then developed a fully interactive digital therapeutics app prototype that made the product tangible. It demonstrated:

  • how a child interacts with exercises,

  • how therapy sessions are structured over time,

  • how engagement is maintained through guided interactions.

This provided a clear, testable representation of the product before any development effort was committed.

Architecture (HLD)

In parallel, we designed a high-level system architecture covering the mobile application layer, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and data model.

The priority was to ensure that a digital therapeutics app prototype could evolve into a scalable, maintainable system. This was particularly important in how therapy content is structured and managed, without introducing unnecessary technical overhead.

MVP estimation

As a final step, we prepared multiple MVP cost scenarios to support decision-making. Instead of a single estimate, we outlined different scope options and made the trade-offs explicit, giving the client clarity on investment and sequencing.

Communication

The project was delivered by a small, cross-functional team including a Product Lead, UX/UI Designer, Business Analyst, and Technical Expert, working in short feedback loops.

Regular check-ins and direct communication ensured fast decision-making, continuous alignment, and no wasted iterations.

Results

Before the engagement, the product existed as a therapy concept without a clearly defined structure, cost model, or scalable logic. This made it difficult to assess feasibility, prioritise features, or prepare for investor discussions.

After defining the digital therapeutics app prototype, the client gained a structured product foundation with clear architecture, prioritised scope, and realistic development scenarios.

This shifted the project from an exploratory concept into an investment-ready product with a defined path to MVP, reducing execution risk and enabling informed decision-making at each stage of development.

Working with the team was a true turning point for the Neurolina project. We came in with a proven therapeutic methodology and a vision, but no clear product structure or scalable technical foundation. Within just a few weeks they helped us transform that raw concept into a concrete, investor-ready digital therapeutics product. The workshop allowed us to align our clinical goals with realistic product logic, the clickable prototype brought the whole experience to life for the first time, and the high-level architecture + MVP scenarios gave us clarity on both the “what” and the “how much”.
